I am trying to get a natural tan for my wedding. I have honestly considered going to the tanning bed -- and was about to sign up, when I decided to do a LOT of research into the pros and cons. There was one picture I saw -

that gave me the chills....and I decided right then and there that it wasn't worth it. and, when I really think about it - my sister has gone tanning since she was 16 (she is now 25, almost 26), which adds up to about ten years of tanning, and she already has a serious amount of wrinkles on her face and knees. Those are MY genes at work too, and I don't want to end up looking like that (sorry sis). So, I've decided to go on the self-tanner wagon, and try what I've researched to be the best self-tanner on the market (within a $20-100) range :)....St. Tropez self-tanning mousse. I have things to do today that prevents me from trying it on my whole body, but I DID go ahead and do a trial run on my legs, just above my ankle. here's a picture:

I only applied it below where my pant is rolled up, just as a trial, and stopped above my ankle since that will be visible when I go out today. So far, I'm happy with the results and can't WAIT to try it all over :). I think tonight I will exfoliate, and tomorrow I will moisturize and apply it to the rest of my body :). Super excited after all the rave reviews to try it out myself. A lot of the reviews state there is almost NO way to mess up your tan with this product.

Hey lovelies!

Okay, so I have seriously been slacking on my blog (due to the pre-wedding stress) so SORRY to anyone looking forward to this! But at least I've had a good 2 months to really review these products :)

I'll go in the same order I had in my first beauty haul post :)

1) Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette --

I absolutely LOVE this pallette. I have just about thrown out any other eye shadow I've had stored in my purse or bathroom. This pallette has just about everything I could ever want :) I don't go crazy with my eyeshadow either, so this is great for anything from natural looks to something a little more dramatic.

I give it 5 stars :)

2) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original

I gave this product four stars - it did A GREAT JOB at keeping my eyeshadow in place. In fact, once I applied it to my lids and applied some eyeshadow, there was absolutely no room for blending my shadow, period. I like to blend it a little so everything doesn't look so clown-ish....so it lost one star in my opinion.

3) NARS bronzing powder in Laguna --

I gave the Laguna bronzer five stars. LOVE LOVE LOVED this. I use it EVERYDAY now. It is such a beautiful color on my fair skin. I will definitely re-purchase once I run out!!

4) NARS blush in Deep Throat

another five star product. I only use this every once in a while because I have naturally fair skin with red tones already so don't always like the added color. But on the days i do, this is perfect for my cheeks :)

5)Sephora Contour brush #43

Okay, so I promise i don't love absolutely everything on the market, this just happened to be a great beauty haul of mine, and i always do plenty of internet research between M.D. reviews for possible benefits/consequences of using particular products on your skin/hair, and reviews of real consumers from other web sites and blogs. This brush was highly recommended online, and I have to say I'm right there with other reviewers. I love this brush! I use it for both my bronzer and blush :) I even use it to help contour my nose, and it works great :)

6) AmorePacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15

I love this so much, and believe it is definitely worth the splurging!! I feel tough, that it is really easy to not rub in all the way by your temples, creating an orangey look right there. That can easily be fixed, and I probably need a vanity mirror and more time getting ready in the morning/ Anyway, my skin does feel moisturized after applying, but not greasy like it did with my The Balm tinted moisturizer.

*I have yet to try the tarte tinted moisturizer, because i love my AmorePacific so much!

7) Blinc Mascara --

Piece of CRAP to say the least. Left my eyelashes very clumped and impossible to wash off :(

8) Clairisonic MIA 2--

Okay lovelies,

So I am re-vamping my hair care routine to GROW MY HAIR OUT LONGER! I've got 3.5 months until my wedding (hold cow, if that doesn't put things into perspective....)

Here goes!

1) DRINK WATER! I need to be drinking at least "8" glasses of water a day - that's about 4 water bottles a day. So far, I'm lucky if I can drink TWO, but I'm staying motivated.

2) BIOTIN SUPPLEMENTS - I have one supplement I keep at work (MAXI-HAIR), and a bottle of Biotin at the house. I take one of each a day. Maxi-hair actually has some bitoin in it. But these will keep the vitamins in my system I'll need to grow my hair out faster.

3) Wash hair maybe 3-4x a week. Washing your hair isn't healthy for it, and strips it of it's natural oils needed to moisturize and replenish hair folicules. So, enter in dry shampoo!

4) COCONUT OIL - I've been doing this weekly if not bi-weekly - I rub the oil in between my hands to heat it up, and then quickly apply it to my skin and hair, and let it seep in overnight! My hair ends up feeling greasy overnight, but moisturized after my shower the next morning.

5) SCALP MASSAGES - I am massaging my scalp in the shower after apply my conditioner. Massaging your scalp stimulates the folicules and increases bloodflow to the area being massaged.

6) EAT HEALTHY - okay, I'm totally FAILING at this right now between chinese food and ice cream...but my idea is to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

7) DRY HAIR WITH A OLD T-SHIRT instead of a towel - towels rub the hair shaft, making it frizzy. Using a t-shirt is a softer, more delicate solution to drying your hair.

I have also been considering starting to CO-WASH, or use the "no 'poo" method to washing/conditioning hair, but perhaps after the wedding. I'm already trying so many different things and re-vamping all my routines - it's a lot at once.

Anyone have any other suggestions, or solutions to growing your hair out longer? LOVE to hear them :) Thanks for reading.

So, I've been using the Mia2 face brush by Clairisonic for a few days now. I was my face like I normally would have to rid of the makeup on my face, and then use the face brush to thoroughly cleanse. I have been using the sensitive brush head it comes with, as well as the trial gel cleanser included with purchase.

I LOVE IT!

Okay, so not totally in love - but it's a little biased. Since I've been using the brush, I have noticed I've been breaking out a LOT. But I can tell the brush has been bringing up a lot from underneath the surface. So my next ten breakouts that were just lying in wait - are starting to go ahead and rise up for battle. They aren't so bad though, just little bumps. I've always had really good skin.

In short -- in just the few days I've been using it (just 1x nightly before bed) I've noticed my skin feels very smooth afterwards, and my skin has been breaking out from all the dirt and makeup I've trapped in my pores previously. I think it's great I'm actually cleaning my skin from another layer up to the surface versus just what I can see in the mirror. I'm going to continue to use it every night and update my review later, but so far so GREAT :)
Hello lovelies!

I sure wish you all would start commenting, I'm getting some HUGE page views but no one likes to share :(. In case you didn't know, I would LOVE to hear your thoughts, experiences, etc. on my blog or similar/same products and what not from my blog. Okay, I'm done scolding! Onto my beauty haul!

I went on sephora today to do some online "window" shopping. I decided to go ahead and pick up some products since my beauty routine needs a little revamping! Here's all the products I purchased today:

1) Urban Decay Naked2 Pallette -- YES! I finally splurged on it - I've been eyeing it since it first came out, and have been trying to make do with the Balm's Nude 'Tude eyeshadow pallette. *Don't get me wrong, I love the Balm - but I really love the shades in Naked2 and want to try it out. There's no way I won't love it.

2) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original -- I am finding out that I actually need something to make this shadow stick to my lids, especially while I'm working.

3) NARS bronzing powder in Laguna -- okay, so I'm on a splurge-FEST. I currently have Bahama Mama by the Balm, which I adore. But I've heard such rave reviews on this that I really want to try it.

3) NARS Blush in Deep Throat -- Hopefully my finance never learns the name of this blush because it will be endless joking every morning! *I actually found that my the Balm blush in Down Boy was VERY pink to everyone else, almost clown like, while the Hot Mama was very sheer and peachy (more for an olive complexion maybe?). So I can't wait to try this oh so lovely reviewed blush!!

4) Sephora Collection Classic Contour Bronzer/Blush Brush #43 -- I read the reviews on Sephora's website and chose this brush for both my bronzer and blush, hopefully it pays off! *My kabuki brush by the Balm seems to work fine but applies a little more at a time than necessary. Then again, I'll find any excuse to revamp my beauty routine! :p

5) AmorePacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15 -- This was my MOST EXPENSIVE purchase, but it was a bestseller from sephora and top rated as well, with lovely reviews to compliment it. It retails at about $70 but I've heard a little goes a long ways.

*My current tinted moisturizer is with the Balm -- works fine, but doesn't hide any of my recent break outs or blackheads on my nose! It actually makes the black part of my black heads look a cream color, and doesn't do anything for the outline of them. Sounds weird, right? If you get close to my face at all you can see it bad. :(

*I think I really wanted to like the Balm due to the fair pricing!! But the more I use them, the more I feel they aren't exactly what my skin needs or what I'm looking for. I still have a bunch of their products left over so in case any of these new items I've purchased flakes I still have some backup :).

That was it for what I paid for, but for every qualifying dollar you spend, you get 1 dollar for 1 point towards other products (seeing that you are a Beauty insider -FREE- with Sephora!). I had about 238 points to spend. I chose two products:

1)Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hr Primer Broad Spectrum 30 SPF -- I thought this would be cool to try since I've heard a little about Tarte and their awesomeness?

2) Blinc Mascara -- I reviewed the reviews on Amazon since everyone is pretty honest and open there, and found this product had some good compliments. Why not?

I have also just purchased the Clairsonic Mia2 in light pink - I want to try it so bad, it's going to be my birthday present to myself :). It's about 135.00 on amazon :)

As far as hair goes, I bought the Bellezza (sp?) hair straightener on Amazon to replace my 2 year old Chi. I received it a week ago and I love it already! You can change the temperature, which is a huge plus :) I was so used to my Chi and just turning the button to "on" - it's great to be able to adjust the temperature for my hair now :). It also get as hot as 450 degrees, so I'm on the hunt for a good heat protectant spray.

So, I'm totally excited about getting them all! I should get them by Wednesday with the 3-day free shipping! Has anyone else tried these products that is reading?

Okay readers,

So I actually picked out my wedding dress this past Saturday! :) I decided to go with my mom and sister to a shop in Wilmington, NC due to a sample sale I saw going on - couldn't hurt, right? Well, we pulled up to the store and I saw this amazing dress in the window with a gorgeous sparkling belt - ruched top, ball gown bottom :) But NO LACE. I still knew I had to try it on. Let's keep in mind here that I was going to this shop with a certain dress in mind by Mori Lee Style #1862. I discovered that this shop did not have the 1862 Mori Lee gown I wanted, but decided to try on a few gowns anyways. I was really in love with Allure and Mori Lee gowns. This dress was the 2nd or 3rd dress I tried on, and I knew it from the moment I saw myself in the mirror it was THE DRESS! :) After stepping on the podium in front of my mom and sister - I could feel my heart swelling in my chest. I am an avid viewer of TLC's Say Yes To The Dress and have seen quite a few episodes where the bride finds her dress and starts hysterically crying and hugging everyone - mascara running down her face and all. I always wondered if I'd have that moment of instant knowing the dress was THE DRESS. But she put the veil on me - and all I coudl mutter was "Oh Shit..." hahaha. I was water works from there. My mom and I were both crying. I tried on a few dresses after that dress just to make sure it was "the one" because I was so set on wanting a lace mermaid style. And the lace mermaids actually looked pretty good on me - but they were so sexy looking on me (seriously...not trying to toot my own horn haha) and accentuated my curves so well - but it wasn't what I had in mind for a wedding dress. I'm very modest in fact - but the mermaids made my hips come out to play and apparently I've got the perfect pair of hips for one of those dresses! But I didn't want that sexy look - and if my hips weren't so wide for my figure being incredibly petite (think 12 yr old girl) those dresses could have been "the one". But there was something about this dress from the moment I saw it in the window to me putting it on that made me fall in love. Buttons all the way down the back (and not only satin buttons, but sparkly buttons were placed about every 2nd or 3rd button down :), and the ruching with the sweetheart neckline, and most of all the swarovski crystal belt detail. Here's some pictures!

The dress is made of taffeta, and I haven't decided if I will be adding a crinoline skirt underneath to make it poof more or if this will better suit my beach house wedding :)

I would like to add also that this is Allure gown Style #8802. I didn't realize the dress was even Allure until after I'd said YES to the dress haha - sounds good to me!!!

THE BAD NEWS:

I DID end up getting the dress. The bad part was the dress may not even be in until MAY 2013. My wedding date is June 11, 2013. The sales consultant that helped me find the dress told me that was the latest the dress could be in - but on her online site she saw there were 2 dresses available in size 2 to order that she could possibly get in a few months before May. So, I've already had a million nightmares about the dress coming in AFTER my wedding date :( but the lady is supposed to call me next week to tell me if she could order it now or not be able to get it in before May. Nerve racking!!!!

The lady from the store called, my dress comes in at the beginning of next month! So night after night of nightmares (I was seriously waking up with night sweats and rapid heartbeat! Crazy, right??) it finally paid off, and I get to pick up my beauty in a few weeeeeeeeeeeeeks!!

I'm getting married, it's true! I have been engaged for 2 weeks now :). Chris came home from his hunting trip with his dad in MI - dropped on one knee and asked me to marry him :).

I remember him telling me he had a present for me, and asked if I wanted it then or later - I of course told him I wanted it now! He then paused for a second, took in a deep breath, and dropped down on one knee and held open a velvety black box with the most beautiful ring I'd ever seen! My chest broke out in hives, I cried some more, and we slipped the ring on my finger!.

Any good way to get rid of black heads without consulting a dermatologist?

So, as you may know I've recently received my "The Balm" cosmetics and have now had a good 4 days run with them! So, I'm gonna review it again having actually applied the products ;) and share my pros and cons of each.

First, the tinted moisturizer "Balm Shelter" in Light with SPF 18.

Cons:

-"Light" is very "Pale" haha

Overview:

-Personally, I might try the next shade in Light/Medium just because I'm not used to looking so pale! So to me it doesn't seem so "tinited" but maybe that's because it's just about the same shade as my poor pale skin it just takes any redness out which also takes any color from my face! But I absolutely love their formula. I feel like I'm doing my skin more good than anything by applying this. Also something to consider if that face I may be evening out my complexion by erasing reds, but I'm also applying blush later on (as you'll see) so maybe it's not sooooo bad.

Next up is the bronzer, Bahama Mama!

Now I didn't have great lighting for this picture so I'm not including it. But i really loved this, I felt like it really added a warm glow to my face without making me look "dirty". There IS a way however, to apply too much so beware! I usually sticl to brushing against it with my bronzer brush from eoctools ONCE, and them applying it to my face using that "3" rule. Next, I blend it in so it's more natural looking.

Bahama Mama Pros:

-Makes your skin glow

-Mostly matte

-Cost effective

Cons:

-Easy for first timers to apply too much

Overview:

Great choice for my first bronzer I must say! Very pleased.

Next is Blush! I have two from The Balm.

1) Hot Mama

2) Down Boy

I love both of these blushes, but I have to say my favorite has got to be Down Boy - it is such a princess pink and makes me feel very girly. Down Boy is a little more noticeable on the cheek than Hot Mama, which just adds a rosy blush color to your cheeks. I adore both, but love the way Down Boy compliments the rest of my face and makeup in such a way. It's very charming and the packaging is adorable. I have no cons to either of these blushes. I believe Hot Mama will be used for more subtle days on my face however.

Okay, so instead of just the "finished" eyebrow picture I had up here....I decided to bare it all, and go through my "before" picture until my "finished" brow picture. That way, you can see how exactly everything comes together step-by step. Now, this WAS before I did the rest of my makeup because it's generally my biggest insecurity and irks me to even look at in the mirror when I wake up, so my brows come first! Here goes!

Okay, so here are my eyebrows without any lick of makeup....

So, you can tell they're a little beat up from my trimming incident! And obviously, everything I've been doing to grow them back is starting to work, but my hairs have always been very light blonde to ash brown in the brow department. So they might get darker, we'll just have to see!

Now, the first thing I do is use an eyebrow pencil to make fake hair marks and sketch out the shape of my eyebrows. I do NOT outline, because that looks cheesy. I more so trace the tiny visible blonde hairs you can see in this photo above to make them darker, and keep going the length of the eyebrow shape I'm wanting so it has the appearance of real hairs.

Here's the result:

At this point, I'm not aiming for perfection, or trying to fill them in - just create a shape for my brows and imitate hairs so they don't look so DRAWN ON!.Here's where you can stop if this is enough for you....but I need to fill mine out a little more, because they still look really "spacey" to me. So, I use some eyebrow shadow to fill them in.

In my opinion, this makes them more realistic and look fuller.

Lastly, I use my ELF Treat & Tame to lighten them up a couple shades and create a good "brushed" brow look.

So Here's the finished product all cleaned up:

You never would have known they really look like the FIRST picture, right? haha crazy. I have written at least one other post about my eyebrow tutorial and listed the products I use step by step WITHOUT pictures. But at the very end I'll go ahead and list them for you in case you're eager to try this at home with yours!

So, that's it as far as eyebrows go!

As you may or may NOT (in which case scroll down so you can...) have read my post about my eyebrows, you should know I use the Femme Couture Eyebrow pencil in medium brown to achieve the "hairy" look of eyebrows. Well, that thing is a piece of shit to say the least.

The Femme Couture eyebrow pencil did the job I needed it to do, but lacking quality. This eyebrow pencil is impossible to sharpen with any of the few eyebrow pencil sharpeners I have. So, after it BROKE on me this morning......yes, broke it's already dulled end off completely.....I decided to spend my extra hour off work early to head to Ulta (a beauty supply store in my mall). It took me just about forever to steer through the brands and find eyebrow pencils haha. OMG I never knew how many different kinds of eyeliners there were. Kind of overwhelming when you're looking for ONE product.

Well, I bought the Physician's Formula Eyebrow Pencil in Brown-Beige....love it already! This Eyebrow Pencil has a built in sharpener in the bottom, and an eyebrow brush attached to the cap! Here's the link...

Great!! Definitely recommend this. It does the job I need it to with minimal cost (about $6 or $7 from Ulta). Got to love the built in sharpener also :). Tomorrow I get my second blush form The Balm in "Down Boy" shade, so will be doing a review on that as well.

Things I found:
-- moisturizer goes on very smooth.
-- no orange streaks
-- didn't have to rub in very much...like, barely :)
-- has a nice smell to it, almost like a good sunscreen but NOT like sunscreen.
-- eliminated minor imperfections
-- evens out my skintone
-- nothing horrible!

I love it! I'm so glad I got the Light shade, although at first this made me nervous because they only have THREE shades! Light, Light/Medium, & Medium as far as I'm aware. It gives minimal coverage, which is something I've been looking for. It also minimizes all the tiny imperfections and evens out my skin tone while still letting the features I love about myself shine through. LIKE MY FRECKLES. God, when I was thirteen I remember soaking my face in lemon juice every night from hatred of my freckles. Now, I can't get enough. Funny how that works!

I also think it's HILARIOUS when people post reviews that sound so surprised like, "Oh my God, I ordered this and it didn't cover up, like, any of my freckles or all the zits all over my forehead or anything!". In case you are not properly informed, this is a TINTED....MOISTURIZER. So, this is not a foundation by any means. It's TINTED with some color, and is a MOISTURIZER, which hydrates that pretty little face you see in the mirror everyday. Tinted moisturizers are not for everyone, mostly for those who want very minimal coverage and are looking more for hydrating their skin while evening our their complexion versus covering up all their imperfections, blemishes, and making everything ONE color.

History Note: I actually used to wear foundation. My boyfriend (like all the great ones are supposed to!) kept telling me I looked beautiful without it and he didn't see why I always wore it. I used to wear Bare Minerals matte foundation in Light and used to adore it! Well, it turned out to be one of those scenarios where I was the ONLY one who thought it looked good. Well, It turned out my foundation had an orangey appearance. It actually took me another girl's opinion to make me realize this really didn't work for me...a girl from work came up and told me my foundation didn't look even, like I had placed too much around my eyes and in certain spots. I looked in the mirror and realized she was right....I normally placed moisturizer separately and then powder foundation over top ..turns out that's not the best idea because if I applied any moisturizer too thick in one area, it attracted more of the powder resulting in that orangey appearance! Thus, the hunt for a liquid moisturizing makeup began....to no avail. And then I heard about the BB creams...hello world! This tinted moisturizer by The Balm is a lot like a BB cream. Which is totally what I was looking for, and put the two-step moisturizer then makeup, into one step. This cream isn't "too much" either so I can stay natural while evening out my complexion all day.

So, I will try this on my face tomorrow and update cheek swatches to this same post, I just wanted to share my immediate excitement!

I YouTube'd (of course) how to apply bronzer and found one video that did a great job. Most first time "Bronzers" tend to place their bronzer all over their face, making themselves look muddy or dirty! Yikes! So the best rule to go by with bronzer is RULE THREE. Trace a three on your face. Start at the middle of your hairline, sweep across your hairline to your temple and then brush underneath the cheekbone. A good tip to make sure you're under your cheekbone is to make a fishy face while doing so! After going under the cheekbone -- make the last hump of the three along your jawline.
We picked out an engagement ring for me together at only 4 months of dating.
If you don't already know, I dye my hair with henna due to years and years of chemically damaging my hair - it can't hold anymore chemical dyes, products, etc :(. So, Au Natural I go with henna!

HENNA -- A little background on Henna (from Hennahut.com - my henna supplier): "Natural henna is wonderful for your scalp and your hair. All the women in India use it to keep their natural shiny soft thick hair" as an indirect quote because they won't let me copy and paste from their site, haha! Oh well. When using henna, make sure you're using an all natural henna source, with no metallic salts or chemicals added. Some hennas with these ingredients have given henna a bad name, so do your research before buying! I follow the directions EXACTLY because that's all it takes, and out comes my beautiful red hair!

I actually purchased the Burgundy shade first to try it out, not wanting to look too "gingery" haha (I can say that, I have a natural red tint to my hair no matter what I do to it, and was born with red hair!). After a few weeks, I realized I wanted my shade to be a little more red, so I purchased the "RED" and hennaed my hair again. Result: More red to my hair, resulting in a very RICH red wine color. And the best part about henna? If you mess up, you can dye it as soon as 4 days to a week afterwards!

SHAMPOO -- Tressa Watercolors in Fluid Fire and Crimson Splash are my shampoos of choice due to lack of the oh so evil SULFATES that strip out the color from your hair, even henna! At first, I was using Riveting Reds by Quantum which actually has red henna - but I found personally that it stripped as much color from my hair as it deposited. Tressa Watercolors is a great color depositing shampoo. I usually just use the Fluid Fire, but sometimes mix the 2 shampoos together to get an in-between. I love it - it's a MUST in my red hair care routine. :) They are the same size, tried to get some identical pictures, go figure, but they both come each in a 8.5oz. bottle.

Anyways, I put a decent amount of the Fluid Fire into my hands (which tends to look like fake blood to me), and lather it in my hair. Leave on for min. 10 minutes, rinse in cool water, and done! :)

WASHING -- Okay, so showering is VERY important, don't ever say I told you otherwise! Washing your body, common knowledge, is best every other day because of the essential oils that your body produces to hydrate your skin and what not. Well, believe it or not, your scalp does the same thing. Your scalp produces natural oils to keep it and the hair it grows hydrated and healthy. I read somewhere that just like your car needs oil to run, so does your scalp and hair. That can be hard to digest at first....trying to live in harmony with the oil on your head and looking like a grease ball!

I'm going to let you in on a little secret....I don't wash my hair but maybe 2-3x a week! Sounds gross to someone who washes their hair everyday I'm sure. I was very skeptical of this idea as well. But, when you wash it everyday, particularly with red hair, you're fading your hair extremely fast and shortening the life span of your new color.

So, how do you get AROUND not washing your hair? Dry Shampoo! I personally use Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Dry Shampoo, and use it on the days in between shampooing my hair when it looks or feels oily/greasy. You just spray it about a foot away from your head, paying particular attention to your part and roots, rub it in with your fingers for a few moments, and then brush your hair. Refreshed! This way, you still have essential oils hydrating your hair as nature intended while looking like you actually washed your hair :)

*Note -- just because you are only washing your hair 2-3x a week, does not mean you can't shower the rest of your body every day or every other day. Wear a shower cap! I'm trying to help, not create an epidemic of stinkers :). Thank you. Also, I used to use Batiste dry shampoo in original - worked pretty good, but only had about 3-5 uses in each can. So, I switched to the Not Your Mother's Brand and it lasts 2x as long! I highly recommend it.

CONDITIONING TREATMENTS -- Concentration: Coconut Oil & Pantene for Fine hair.

*This was the spot in my blog where I admitted to not using any conditioner in the shower ever or at all. I'm updating this section because I found out how wrong I was! After weeks of not conditioning, my hair became very very very dry, and I actually developed some dandruff at the area of my scalp next to my ears! I was so afraid my conditioner (which contains alcohol) was going to strip the henna from my hair that I completely took it out of my hair care routine - big mistake. So, I do condition my hair now every time I shower - but limit my hair washings and stick to dry shampoo. :) Thanks.

*Note -- In case you are NEW to coconut oil and it's sudden craze...It looks a bit like, well, Crisco in the jar. Just scoop a little out with your fingers, rub between your palms and it will liquefy itself from the friction. After it's liquefied, apply to hair and smooth from roots to ends. I have read some articles saying to leave only on your ends and not your scalp, but the ends of your hair are DEAD. So, it only makes sense to hydrate and massage the actual source of hair follicles and growth....your scalp!
STYLING -- Fresh out of the shower, I use a t-shirt to dry my hair. Towels have a harsh effect on your hair and actually rub the hairs. I forgot the exact science of it, but I've noticed a lot less breakage, hair loss, etc, from drying my hair with an old t-shirt. T-shirts are much softer on your hair, long story short haha. Next, I will either jiggle my fingers in random places in my hair to separate my waves for a natural look, or I will comb my hair with a wide tooth comb from ends to roots. Without conditioner, this can be a challenge - but I'd rather my hair be natural and thicker than SPRINGY AND THIN. The below pictures are not the exact wide tooth comb nor t-shirt I use fyi!

Okay, so I have always been a straightening fanatic - but, having worked in the dental field and always having to wear my hair pulled back, and learning the damaging effect of straightening to your hair, I have since ceased my straightening. I will admit every once in a while, I still straighten it. But maybe once a month now. Instead, I mainly just blow dry my hair with the barrel facing my shoulders so it straightens as I blow dry! It works very well for me, and my fine, thin hair looks a little thicker. I personally found the Rusk Speed Freak blow dryer at my local Ulta beauty supply store, and love it! At first it was a little like a strong leaf blower but you get used to it. 15 Minutes max blow drying :) A little hairspray goes a long way with my hair as well to minimize any frizzing effect. I like to use Garnier Sleek & Shine Hairspray because I live in the south, and there's quite a bit of humidity!
So, that's about it for hair care! I'm trying to grow my hair out longer, so if anyone has any tips that have worked out well PERSONALLY, comment on my blog and let me know! Also, if anyone else has hennaed their hair and found any certain methods/products have worked particularly well for them please comment and let me know! There's not a certain source for hair care on henna hair, so I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, you can click on any of the products (except for the coconut oil I believe, since Walmart didn't have it on their website) to go check out pricing, reviews, etc. I LOVE doing research before I buy something, or anything at all, so do your own research! Thanks for reading, and hope this helped!

My boyfriend is out of town to MI for the next 2 weeks (he's already been out for one week) on a father/son hunting trip. I miss him A LOT - which explains my need to develop a blog for myself so that I do not go insane trying to talk to a two year old all day! So, this is just like a way to kind of talk out my concerns and excitement for life, maybe? Who knows. But here goes.

A little about me: I'm in the dental field, 22 years old, with a 2 year old son named Max. He's my whole world. When I'm not working or doing the mama thing, I'm usually with the love of my life, Chris! I have a thing for trying new makeup from the oh so wonderful YouTube makeup gurus (my fav is icallitambrosia...At first when I watched a video from her, she spent the entire time cursing and I was so surprised I almost flagged her video...just because I wasn't used to it and I spend all day every day trying to screen away from cursing for the oh so innocent mind of the two year old always around haha. But after watching a couple more videos, she is truly hilarious so if you haven't yet, CHECK OUT HER VIDEOS :). I also have a thing for dying my hair with henna (still kinda new for me), and finding ways to still manage a manicure while chasing a two year old.

A little about Chris: You're gonna hear about him a lot if you happen to read my blog more than once, guarantee it, no way around it. He is my best friend, my future husband, and the best father I could ever ask for for my son Max. I could probably write a novel on how much I love that man - but I'm pretty sure you'd fall in love too and then we'd have a problem! Moving on...

It's been a week exactly since my boyfriend of a year and a half, Chris!, left on his journey to MI. We spent that whole Saturday of him driving up and me sitting at home, trying to talk on the phone when he wasn't pumping gas and I wasn't in the shower. I ended up feeling very blah because I felt like I was sitting around all day waiting for a call, and waiting for the next call, and the next. I actually felt very annoyed at that fact - and much like a loser. So after about 13 hours of him driving, and us trying to fit in conversations, I finally told him he could just call me when he reached his parents house in MI. He only had about 2 hours left until he reached home anyways, and maybe I could find some use in folding laundry or whatever. Turns out, he never even called. His MOM called me to thank me for making her one of those poly deco mesh wreaths I picked up making from Pinterest, haha. Which, I mean, I thought was awesome, but I was expecting to hear from Chris.

Fast-forward a week, I have spent the past week with no one to really talk to, and been a complete and utter insecure mess I hate to say. I kept thinking to myself all these bad thoughts of him cheating, and running into old flames in his hometown, having bad dreams about him cheating - ugh.

Talk about mentally exhausting. We actually had it out last night on the phone - me being a girl, I needed to hear him say how much he missed me instead of just saying "Oh yeah, I miss you too. But I've got to go" or something along those lines. And him being a guy, he figured he needed to be strong since I was already falling apart from missing him, and disguise how much he really missed me. Guys! If your girl misses you, and you kind blow her off and don't explain you really do wish you were in the same bed again kissing her....she, in her delicate frame of mind from long-distance-ness, might go a little nutty and decided you're with someone else at the moment or feel stupid for being the sensitive one who actually misses the other person. Either way, all girls like that emotion shown every once in a while. You don't have to start crying, you don't have to write gay poems, just return the emotion PLEASE. Thank you :).

Okay, so while Chris has been gone.......UGH. I have been catering to my NEED TO SHOP, NEED TO SHOP, NEED TO SHOP, side, and spoiling myself with hair depositing shampoo, makeup, etc. I also went crazy with my eyebrows :( and learned how to make them look good again even if they look a little shaved down haha. I can honestly say I've never been more excited to try this stuff, also! The products I HAVE tried and definitely recommend are in underlined font, underlined for convenience.

Shampoo - Okay, so I dye my hair with henna. I use Harvest Moon by Hennahut.com and they are fantastic, okay? I love their customer service, their fast delivery, the colors, etc. I actually can't chemically dye my hair anymore because my hair is so damaged, it won't even hold any permanent color anymore. But, I've also done that since I was 16, along with straightening my hair and all that - very damaging to thin, fine hair. Anyways, recently dyed my hair with both the burgundy henna and the red henna (red was a couple weeks after the burgundy to give it a more red feel). I was originally using the Riveting Reds by Quantum (sp?) for the color depositing my hair so desperately needs (according to my fav Youtube gurus). But I soon found that this shampoo was stripping out as much color and it put in...which surprised me at first because this shampoo actually has "henna" in the ingredients. And then I saw it...SULFATE. Horrible word to find in the ingredients list of a color depositing shampoo. SUPER long story short, I found this new shampoo, TRESSA WATERCOLORS.
I've got both the Fluid Fire and Crimson Splash shampoos. I research all my reviews on Amazon before I buy - mainly because I'm kind of new to the beauty world in re: to cosmetics and what not. Anyways, Fluid Fire got a lot of rap for it's tendency to turn hair pink - but the product description was just what I wanted. So, more research gave me a Youtube video actually BY Tressa for the Watercolors shampoo - one of the examples in their video was red hair, and they used a combination of both the fluid fire and crimson splash - color result: AMAZING. Just what I have been looking for. So, I purchased both. Now, I'm a little skeptical about the Fluid Fire turning anyone's hair pink given the description of the shampoo is for mainly medium shades of red. So I first tried the Fluid Fire, and bam - perfect result. I do not condition my hair because of the alcohol in conditioner, which can strip more color from my precious henna head now. Instead, I'll do weekly coconut oil hair treatments -- just take a glob of coconut oil, rub it between your hand to liquefy, spread on hair from scalp to ends, cover with a hair cap, and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight, and shampoo in the morning. Amazing results :)

Okay, so I can do separate blogs for my hair care routine later, because a lot of work goes into red hair. If you've got red, you know what I'm talking about.

Eyebrows -- I purchased the ELF Studio Treat & Tame for eyebrows, and the Wet and Wild Ultimate Eyebrow Kit in Ash Brown after watching a Youtube guru (okay, so I'm not all that original in my cosmetic choices, deal with it) on how to obtain perfect eyebrows. Here's the link in case you're wondering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M-0Jcq-gbU . Now, the Elf studio Treat and Tame - we won't even go into, because I bought this from Amazon and when it came in the mail the "Tame" brown part actually looked with it had been used because the sides of the tube looked scraped clean of product. So, I advise you to find this in your local beauty store, maybe Target - I know they carry a lot of ELF products. I have really used it considering the quality of the product I received and only God knows who used it before me....disgusting! As for the Wet and Wild Ultimate Eyebrow Kit in Dark - amazing! This youtube guru in her video explains that this isn't really "dark" per se. I normally have VERY light brown, almost blonde is most areas. I really had not noticed how light my eyebrows were until just recently! Talk about embarrassing in photos :( . So, when I read about how to properly trim my eyebrows. So, away I went to trim my eyebrows...when I realized all my eyebrow hairs were long and thin. So I had been plucking, plucking, plucking away hairs for YEARS instead of trimming. No WONDER my eyebrows never looked "right". So, I watched this video, purchased a normal "medium brown" eyebrow pencil to pencil in the invisible hairs and create a natural looking eyebrow, and filled in the rest with this eyebrow kit from Wet and Wild. My eyebrows have taken some serious getting used to because of how dark they look to me, but I'm beginning to grow very fond of them. They look natural! She has some great tips in there too, about putting the darker eyebrow shadow towards the ends of your brow so they don't wash out in pictures!

At night, I take off all my makeup, wash my face completely, and put some olive oil on a makeup sponge and apply to my brows liberally. I haven't noticed any breakouts, and my eyebrows seem to already have started to grow back. I'm so excited to actually grow them back correctly.

On to COSMETICS!!

THE BALM Blush -- I've purchased both "Down Boy" and "Hot Mama" blush from The Balm. I have never worn blush, due to the fact I have always hated the little bit of ruddy complexion I have, plus freckles. But, as this boring week has gone on, I'm realizing that trying out some blush might not be so bad! :) I will definitely do a review on these products after having received them of course! I (as mentioned about ten time already!) do a lot of research and read reviews before I decide on what to purchase when it comes to cosmetics. Down Boy is a very blossomy pink color, whereas Hot Mama is a more rosy color. I wasn't sure which one I'd like better on my skin, with this being my first blush purchase. I've actually heard a lot of Youtube gurus comparing these blushes to Nars.

The Balm Bronzer -- Bahama Mama. I am really interested in bronzer because of a girl I work with, Bridget. She wear bronzer and blush and looks very radiant almost every day! So, she's my inspiration. I haven't gotten the chance to ask her what kind of bronzer she uses but it definitely gave me something to do. I almost purchased the "Nars" Laguna bronzer but was very turned off by the thought of having to pay $32.00 on amazon for it! No thank you. So, when I found this company's blush, I happened upon their bronzer too! I watched a million youtube reviews on the products. The most helpful in deciding was this video by a woman named Autumn : (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xSqvQL1jo ). She goes into detail about all the products she purchased and what works well, what doesn't, etc. It's kind of long, about 23 minutes I think, but I kinda breezed through the eye shadows and all since I haven't even broadened my horizons that far!

The Balm Tinted Moisturizer -- Balm Shelter in Light with SPF18. I currently use the Loreal BB Cream "Magic Skin Beautifier" in Light. I purchased this with recommendation from Bridget, again, and before I actually started any real review research. Most of the reviews on this BB cream state, the Light shade especially, gave them a orange GLOW. I spread this cream on very thin and haven't noticed really any problem besides if there's a spot I haven't really rubbed in then there's that orange. But really, if used PROPERLY, no problems. But, I read the reviews and everyone seems to be in love with this. Also, I wanted a tinted moisturizer with SPF...super important. So while this is almost 3x as much as the drugstore BB cream Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier at around $8.00 (link in this blog is to amazon, where I think it's listed a little more than that but whatever)....I hope those reviews are right and I'll find that SPF handy! :) Also, The Balm tinted moisturizer is 1.5x more product as the Loreal BB cream - talk about worth a try. I went ahead and got the tinted moisturizer in the Light shade as well - that IS the lightest shade they have which makes me a little nervous but if not, I can just get the next one up - Light/Medium.

Anyways, I'm super excited to try The Balm products!!! Thanks for reading :)
